About BaP Ohio

Welcome to Building a Presence for Science in Ohio.

Building a Presence for Science (BaP) is the largest networking initiative of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). This award-winning program is designed to improve the teaching and learning of science from kindergarten through 12th grade in participating states across America.

Our mission is to achieve science literacy for all students through standards-based teaching and learning, supported by a network of Key Leaders serving Points of Contact in every school building in Ohio.

If you are a teacher of science in Ohio we hope you will join us.

Please direct your questions and inquiries to State Coordinator Mary Lightbody, at lightbody.1@osu.edu, and/or access the NSTA web site for Ohio's Building a Presence program at http://bap.nsta.org

This general information sheet will provide some information about BaP Ohio and may be freely shared.

Any teacher of science in a public, private, parochial, charter, community, home, or other school is welcome to become involved in BaP Ohio. Points of Contact may volunteer through the NSTA web site.

The organizational structure of the program groups 20 - 25 Points of Contact into a cluster under the direction of a Key Leader. Anyone interested in serving in this role should contact the State Coordinator.

SECO District Directors are serving as Super Key Leaders in the ten SECO districts. Please refer to the map of Ohio to determine in which SECO district you live or work, and contact your SECO District Directors to help promote and market BaP Ohio in your geographical region.

    Thank you for your interest.
